I was thinking last night stinky, that a tagging system for posts could be employed. Those tags user's create for their posts would then show up in their profiles as clouds or lists (typical "web 2 oh" bullshit, I know, but you know it works), so that we can find similar users, connections and threads we might not have otherwise known about. It would also be easier to track the profile of the forum, for popular topics, and recurring issues, and trends via folksonomy.
This would also begin to push the boundaries of what a forum is on the internet.
And it would pwn the universe.
and Llamas would rejoice across the land.
we of course would abuse such as a sysem at 12s. but then we may just discover something new.

quite interesting..... it's really a good idear.
one of these days...
darmint. Can I have like a year to just do stuff, like in a vortex where it won't impede on anything else? And a pony, I want a pony.

supposedly I am going to be sent away to a crasy house to take a couple weeks training on Rails.
Perhaps one day the forum trunk will be on svn.
My employment status would forbid me from putting my name in the source, etc. and of course there's conflict of interest. arrgh.
damn my employment. Like my employer, I prefer a zebra.
someday you'll be signing my snepo paycheck and all will right with the world.

I was thinking I might do this with a greasemonkey script.
there may be some third party tagging systems that would work. but you know, it's all about ease of adoption.
or
I wonder if depot... and a wee JS include on your part...
tenPlus 2006.06.17, 11:58AM —
aeron's? If I had've known I would've put my order in with y'all. They'd havta be cheaper by the dozen?
StinkFist 2006.06.17, 11:54PM —
Generally the price goes down at around six. We got a pretty good deal but had to jump through some hoops. Arse is a size C but Ben and I are size B so availability was an issue. We ended up getting Arse's chair from one store and the other two from a more expensive place. Such is life, we probably spent three hundred too much but it was nice to get it out of the way.
Where do you guys order them from?

A greasemonkey script is doable right now. I've seen a couple of userscripts that add tagging features to Blogger using del.icio.us as an online backend. Swap that with a depot demo backend and build a cloud/tag viewer page and you're golden.
A combination of both Idears would be excellent for the 12stone homepage. Include the folksonomy and also add a random entry from "The doesnt deserve its own thread" blog post stylee. Could also have a fickresque/flash mini gallery that shows the latest image entries to thunderdome.

nice, I love the idea.
There's soooooo much that I want to start yapping on about with the applications of depot in (particularly) these situations. The idea of a travelling detatchable data source is high amongst them.
By the by, I'll be getting an updated copy out to you guys (persisto e oviñe) on monday, hopefully with a more intact tutorial and http web server. After that I'm off to Southern India for a couple of weeks so I'm sure that Arse will be in touch
StinkFist 2006.09.14, 08:10AM —
I can't wait to see what comes out of this
BTW We're releasing the OMGWTF one-week-after-releasing-bugfix-release on Monday AUS time. You'll be able to download it from the download link in your depot purchase email confirmation.
YARRRRRR

awsemoe.
tell me you have had more customers.
I listed depot in the employer's "fast prototypng" page on the internal wiki.
StinkFist 2006.09.14, 11:23PM —
Thanks for that
We actually haven't had much activity but that's more due to the fact that the release last Friday was a soft-launch (We knew there would be first-release jitters and bugs).
We're going to start marketing a lot more on Monday when we push out the update
