I spent some time this weekend skinning a standard wordpress blog graphics for some friends as I don't have time to keep pace with all the stuff they want to put online or do them a better site, and they seem incapable of doing flash html themselves. But I figure they can't make excuses about wordpress since every man and his dog uses it. Not sure if it is here or the design forum, I should post, but any advice thoughts welcome, its quite rough still.

oh and anyone good at all that html stuff know why it does not seem to be skinned properly in safari?

It looks fine to me in Safari, or at least it looks the same as it does in Firefox.
I just recently spent some time modifying wordpress themes for clients. Those involved a lot of editing of the PHP templates though to change the layout, but overall I was pretty happy with the Wordpress system and how easy it is to modify if you know a thing or two about CSS.
Those colors are a little off the wall, but the look is cohesive. Nice job.

imo the colors are suiting the topic.
