Damn it Acrobat.

lelou Damn it Acrobat.

I've got 28 single page pdfs I need to insert into an existing pdf to make one big fat document.

These 28 pdfs are all named 01,02,03,04 etc.

So why won't Acrobat insert them in order?
Does it go, Oh shit. That's an effort. I'll shove them wherever and go out for a smoke.

I don't want to have to sit there and re order them all.

Is it possible? And if not, why? Because that's just stupid.

Nat

Bring up the Pages panel and drag them from one doc to the other. You should be able to control the order.

arigato

If you sort your documents list by name it ought to be entered in order, too.

Walt

both bits of advice sound right
I would only add that if the [28] individual pages are to be inserted into the existing document in sequence, perhaps collecting them into one document on their own would help—File>Combine Files... then all 28 can be inserted following any page using the dialog box for inserting pages—Document>Insert Pages

I've always had a hard time convincing it to build in the order I want it.

out of interest lelou, did you get it to work?

lelou

Oh! Not yet! I'll check on Monday...I tried Nat's suggestion, worked the first time
and I couldn't repeat it. I'll see if the Combine Files thingy works...

lelou

Bingo Walt!!!

Thanks guys smile

glad it worked out...

I just poked in here to see just now because I had to collect a set of PDF's into a single document and it seemed to work out in order... even gave me a dialog to arrange them in order... what helped and I didn't mention earlier, is that I numbered my files so that they were in order, I assume the problem can be avoided if they are manually sorted into order in Bridge... but I would need to double-check that...

good to see it worked out for you
