Can I change the default proof setup in PS?

CaseyWhitcher Can I change the default proof setup in PS?

I'm not sure how or when but my photoshop is set up to view every images proof setup in working CMYK.

I usually work with web images and RGB, I always have to go in and change the proof setup for every image.

Is there a way to set it up to default to something else?

THANKS

Walt

sorry I missed your question till now...

Casey, I'm afraid the workflow for softproofing in this manner is likely setup and geared mostly for print and the default CMYK...

to test this, first I tried what you said...

then I went into WIndow>Workspace>Save Workspace... check all three Palette Location, Shortcuts and Menus... Save... and as you said, the default was not set or saved to the last used

however, if you first Save the Custom Proof Setup... and then shut down Photoshop, when you relaunch, Ctrl+Y [or the menu command] should give you your Custom Proof setup as the default/last used

If you are using this Proof setup for device dependent RGB, have you checked out the Save for Web Adobe Device Central? go to File>Save For Web and Devices bottom right corner of the dialog will launch Device Central

Hey walt,

I re-read what you said again today and now I'm wondering. Do you know if you can just turn off proofing by default?

That would fix my issue?

Walt

I don't quite understand Casey...
I really don't use soft proofing, on my system at work we've got a SWOP proofing system with ColorBurst RIP and Epson printer, and I am used to the results I get from my two printers... who also give us printed proofs...

so I don't use the proofing, I would think it is off by default

if you want to see and compare the actual color shift, duplicate the image and go to the Edit menu and Convert to Profile... whichever you choose and view your before and after side by side
