could somebody who has firefox on windows help me out for a second? i'm trying to finish up a site and I don't have a pc with firefox on it to test but it's been pointed out to me that I have some "weirdness" going on with something on this page

if you would just click on say the "dress code" link on the left menu and see what happens with the menu.
if you wouldn't mind checking it out with explorer too while you are there that would be awesome. thanks!
oh and fyi all the links up top and on the bottom will be broken or link to an old site.

When you click a menu item, the middle element that slides to the left is extending beyond the left edge of the div:
its fine in ie6, opera and safari for win

hmm... that's odd...
does it start like that or only when the menu slides back in?
and thanks for checking. weird that it's only a firefox thing. it works fine on mac firefox too...

ok thanks tenPlus.
anyone have any idea what might be causing that?

awesome, i didn't actually figure out the problem though. i just ended up making the slide out part more narrow than the links part. heh, cheap but it works for now. i'm in a pinch. this thing is supposed to launch saturday.
thanks for the help guys.

That issue doesn't appear for me in FF on XP, but I do see something strange. When I click on the left menu it slides out perfectly, but there's interference on the menu, similar to when you leave a cellphone too close to the screen, going in the direction of the movement of the submenu. I've tried to do a screengrab, but it's too quick to capture.
Did anyone see this or am I having a stroke?
scudsucker 2008.04.25, 11:39AM —
I see that too. Wierd rendering problem, best screenshot I could get only shows minor wierdness on the "l" of "Female" and "Health" :
But it is as if the whole nav "shimmers" when the subnav content slides in or out.
Windows XP sp 2, Firefox 2.0.0.14
Edit - used screen capture software to bring you an .avi.
Effect is slightly exaggerated by the fact that the screen cap software is running at the same time.
Edit Edit - the .avi plays only in Windows Media Player, not VLC, so it may not work in other apps. I've converted it to .flv as well.

wow thanks alot for the video. that is definitely weirdness. hmm... i don't know what could be causing that.
the strangest thing being that it only seems to happen in firefox.

yes I saw that as well, you'd think that once it was cached it would slide better. Unfortunately not so. Perhaps try changing the fps?

well it's all javascript actually. i probably should have done it in flash really.... my flash skills are pretty rusty these days though. but i guess so are my javascript skills. ah well.
i had to go ahead and make it live today anyway. i'll work on this again monday. hah
oh and fyi the page is now at amarillouptown.com/media
scudsucker 2008.04.29, 07:13AM —
It is probably a rendring issue with Firefox, and as such, you cant do much about it, other than report it as a bug.
I recall seeing somthing similar using Mozilla, years ago, when I was scrolling a div undeneath another div with javascript.

ah... i see, well that makes me feel a little better i guess...
thanks scudsucker.
