I've been holding off on talking about this until it was a done deal, which it's still not FULLY, but considering I'm signing paperwork and making plans for moving....it's close enough.
It looks like in about 2 months or so I'll be moving to Atlanta. I mentioned a while back the girl I met in Florida who lives in Atlanta. Well, through an ironic and completely separate chain of events I was contacted by a company in Atlanta about a job opportunity. I'm going to work for Studiocom. "Studiocom is a full-service interactive agency that creates engaging brand experiences." - As they put it
.
They got in touch with me because they are starting a mobile division of their company, which as they put it, will include anything outside of the home. Apparently my iPhone applications were worth dabbling with after all.
. I'm excited about an opportunity to sort of trail blaze a bit. A fast paced ever changing landscape like the mobile world sounds fun as hell. Nothing like needing to be super agile and creative.
I know this won't be a permanent move for me. San Diego will always be my home. However, I feel like this is one of those moments in life when I need to go see what happens. We'll see what happens with my girlfriend, and I'll check out this opportunity in a relatively newly emerging technology field. The other upside being the lower cost of living will give me a chance to get caught up on some finances.
Either way, exciting times in the next few months

San Diegans can't survive outside of San Diego. Just sayin.
Atlanta is a great place though, you'll have a good time. The best of luck to you Jer, I'm actually quite jealous. I've about had it with San Diego and the high cost of living here. Luckily I'm not a native so I don't think I'll have a lot of trouble relocating.
Learn lots of good stuff, eat lots of southern food (careful, easy to get fat on it) and enjoy yourself. You deserve the best, go grab it.

Yeah, San Diegans (especially natives) can only live outside of san diego for short stints at a time. Funny enough, I've been back in San Diego out of the military for right about 4 years now. There are times when I go into panic modes thinking about how miserable I was so often in the military. But I have to remind myself that it's NOTHING like my time in the military. I'll be making way more, and be way more flexible. I'll be more connected to San Diego than I ever was when I was in the military.

I completely agree with that statement! I feel like you have to be able, hell, or willing to take opportunities when they are presented to you. Like I said, the job and the girl came about on two separate sort of paths of fate, so I sort of feel like it's time to take a chance.
