Hello to all!

Weight Loss Challenge: here is the scoop!

1) All entrants must pay a $100 entry fee.

2) You must lose 10% of your body weight in 10 weeks to qualify for prize money.

3) All entrants that lose 10% or more of their body weight will split the prize money equally.

(For example. If we have 25 entries, the prize fund will be $2500. If 5 folks meet the 10% goal, then they will each win $500.)

I am targeting a minimum of 25 entrants, but the more the merrier. Please recruit co-workers, spouses, family members, friends, men, women, etc.

Initial weigh-in’s will be on June 7th at my house ([address_removed], Rootstown, OH 44272) anytime between 8AM and midnight. I have a doctors scale that will go up to 400 lbs. If you cannot make it to weigh in on June 7th, you can weigh in any time after June 7th (please give me a call to coordinate a time), but you must do the final weight in by August 16th. If you weight in later you will have less time to lose the required weight. I will be having a $40 buy-in Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament that evening starting at 6:30 PM. We will play cash games after the tournament ends, so feel free to come with friends to play. I will limit the tournament to 32 players. The players that are participating in the Weight Loss Challenge will given priority.

Final weigh-in’s will be on August 16th at my house anytime between 8AM and 10PM. Prize money will be awarded after the final weigh-ins on August 16th. If you fail to weigh in by 10PM on or before August 16th it will be assumed that you did not meet the 10% weight loss goal. I will host another $40 buy-in Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament that evening starting at 6:30 PM. Same program as on June 7th. If you cannot do the final weigh in on August 16th, you can weigh in any time earlier than August 16th (please give me a call to coordinate a time). Similarly, if you do the final weigh in earlier, you will have less time to lose the required weight.

Email updates will come as we get closer to the initial weigh-in. If you want additional email addresses added to the distribution list (for your recruits) please forward those to me!

I'm in, wish me luck!

A high standard of standardness.

folks at the office did this sort of biggest loser competition...
in ours, the resultes were quite surprising—great results, unnexpected winners

We just did this EXACT thingy at work! I lost... Paid my $100.00... I did lose 4 inches off the waist, but I added too much muscle to lose the weight. Our BMI scale is off. It says I'm at 25% body fat when I know I'm around 12%.... Oh well...

Best off luck, d00d!

So is there a lower weight limit?

Cos I weight about 70kg (154 pounds); 10% is only 7 Kg which I could lose in 10 weeks simply by doing nothing. Eating less maybe.

bit-101

i've lost 7% in the last 6 weeks. Reaching my target weight would mean losing 21% so i'm 1/3 there!

If I lost any more weight, I'd have to be hospitalized.

Gearing up, we got the local health club to pitch in:

Fitworks has donated several things to help our event be successful. Just mention the “Weight Loss Challenge” at the desk.

a. 1 free four week pass is available to every entrant.

b. 1 free personal training session is available to every entrant.

c. 4 free aerobics classes with weights is available to every entrant. The class will be set up specifically for those who are in the WLC.

I think the first aerobics class would make a great YouTube video.

A high standard of standardness.

Weigh in - 226.5 pounds.

At 6' 1", that makes me an official fat-ass. Game on!

I'd suggest doing a 12s version of this, except for the fact that everyone here is so thin and luscious.

As if! I know I'd be in there... England has not been kind to my waistline. Beer and chips makes people tubby, who knew?! I don't know how (most of) the other Englishmen on this forum have managed to stay so svelte.

My guess is copious amounts of tobacco and cocaine. wink
