So, I saw this:

noabembibre.com/thecalendar.html

and I thought "hey, cool, maybe we could do something like this on 12stone".

But I figured maybe we could kick it up a notch and use images, too.
So I figured if we take a random number between 1 and 500 ...
then go to Flickr explore for this month and choose the photo corresponding to that number for the current day's 500 most interesting photos...
that could be the base of the image.

Then make your words and put 'em on top of the image. Whee!
More of an exercise in type and layout than the regular photoshop tennis-y stuff we do, but I thought we might have some fun with this.

For example:
I generated 293.
the 293rd most interesting photo for today is on page 29:
flickr.com/explore/interesting/2008/12/02/page29/

So I made this:

So, come up with an acrostic for December, generate your number, copy your image, and it's off to the races.

oh man, i'm thinking i'm doing the second month without realizing you posted 12. let this be an exercise in counting.

arigato

Naw, we're good. Nice one!

So that's December & February down.
big grin

wowbagger[tip]

So should we make decembers or pick unused months ? *confused, hard*

arigato

I had planned just Decembers but I'm open minded.
Just make one!

#478 ( flickr.com/photos/moonwire/3081261160/ )

Of course I saw the image and disregarded the typograpy aspect, just became obsessed with creating somewhat realistic window lettering. I gave up after a while though big grin

gonna try to follow the rules next time :|

arigato

Still, making things is a good start.
wink

kck

oh, you wanted decembers? well that makes at least as much sense as a calendar. anyway, they all look cool.

mclarkson

I am clearly a moran but, as a non-flikr user, I can't figure out how to go from that calendar ari linked to to any sort of list of 500 popular photos.

Could you, would you, with a goat?

If you click on a day, it gives you 6 images or so, and a link to "interesting stuff from December 3rd, 2008"

That link is to the 500 most interesting images. 10 per page, so if your number is 292, it's the second one on the 29th page

Bah. Not happy with it, but not going to mess with it anymore.

It was #22, but apparently that changes over the course of the day, and I didn't get the original page bookmarked. Apologies to the original artist.

ill make one but i make no promise as to when if ever itll be posted. seeing how my website was shutdown after my credit card expired and i didnt care enough to make an international call to fix it all.

nice work so far though, i like the fish/window.

In 10,000 years from now I hope someone looks at our ancient texts and picks a better book to believe in, maybe Winnie The Pooh. We could worship bears, feast on honey, and believe that there's an ancient place known as the 100-Acre Woods. Seems as plausible as any other religious text.
